Guiyang has been sister cities with Mariánské Lázně since 2016. Mariánské Lázně is located in Cheb District of Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, surrounded by the Bohemian Forest. The city is near the branch of Vltava River, has a population of 18,000 and covers an area of 51.81 square kilometers, and is the second largest spa town followed by Karlovy Vary. The "hot springs" of Mariánské Lázně earns its name for its higher average temperature in contrast to those "cold springs" in Karlovy Vary. The town is a spa resort, where visitors can bathe in and enjoy 40 kinds of carbon-dioxide mineral water.
