Guiyang and Gijang signed an MOU on friendly cooperation in 2012. Gijang is a county located in north-eastern Busan in South Korea facing the Japan Sea. It covers 217.9 square kilometers and has a population of 146,260. With many national and city-level tangible and intangible cultural assets, it is a county rich in tourism resources and famous nationwide for the seven featured products and cultural festivals. The anchovy is the typical seafood of Gijang county. The catch in the county accounts for approximately 70 percent of the country's total anchovies' catch. Gijang is a modern and emerging city, featuring traditional culture, radiology, fisheries and marine science.
