Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province and commonly known as China's Data Valley, is determined to decorate itself by constructing a dozen of unique walking streets in the next three to five years, according to a working plan released by the city government recently.
Guiyang will construct and transform one national-standard demonstration walking street, 10 provincial-level commercial walking streets, as well as several unique commercial blocks, which will possess a good environment, rich culture, and regulatory management, according to the plan.
To improve shopping, food and beverage, cultural, leisure, as well as sightseeing services, the construction of the provincial-level commercial walking streets will be centered on areas like Huaguoyuan complex, Fanhuali, Xingguangli, and Xibinhe commercial street to attract more consumers.
With an investment of 11 billion yuan ($1.57 billion), the Guiyang Street project will be a national-standard demonstration walking street. It will cover 930,000 square meters, and is being designed by the UK-based award-winning Benoy Architecture and Masterplanning, as well as GillespiesLLP, a landscape design company headquartered in the UK, said a spokesperson with the Guizhou constructor HLC Group.
Stretching 750 meters, the Guiyang Street project is expected to consist of 13 buildings with both Chinese and European classical palace buildings. The eastern part of the street will include buildings in Chinese Han and Tang dynasties architectural styles, while the western part will be covered with European-style buildings.
The project will be connected to the intermediate ring road of the urban rapid transit hub, the Central Park bus hub terminal, 13 bus lines, and metro line 3. It is dedicated to becoming a place gathering folk arts and customs, fashion, global foods, urban culture, advanced technology, and business meetings services.
"Thanks to a series of implementation of plans to revitalize commercial businesses in Guiyang, we have gained confidence in investing into the medium and high-end commerce and trade industry in the city," said the spokesperson of HLC Group.
