To revitalize businesses, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, plans to increase the number of commercial carriers, such as commercial complexes, comprehensive supermarkets, pedestrian streets, and markets, to 71 by the end of this year.

Currently, Guiyang has implemented preferential policies to improve the layout of its business circles. Relying on Renmin Avenue and Shubo Avenue, Guiyang aims to establish one primary business circle and four secondary business circles.

Guiyang will also plan pedestrian streets based on high standards in its downtown area, as well as establish 20 high-quality markets above 100,000 square meters, cultivate 500 brand stores, and introduce 1,000 chain convenience stores.

Statistics show that by the end of 2018, Guiyang had 16 high-quality markets, occupying 23 percent of all its commercial carriers, which is below the 40 percent average in other cities.

By the end of 2019, Guiyang's commercial carriers are expected to cover an area of 4.93 million sq m, including 45 commercial complexes, 11 large-scale comprehensive supermarkets, six pedestrian streets, and nine markets.
