Guiyang recently issued a two year promotion plan for the development of the Chinese medicinal herbs industry. According to the plan, Guiyang will be built into an important production area of daodi medicinal herbs in China by the end of 2020.

The plan indicates that Guiyang will give priority to the development of daodi medicinal herbs and its products, making the traditional Chinese medicinal herbs an important industry for poverty alleviation and rural revitalization efforts.
By the end of 2020, the total planting area of Chinese medicinal herbs will increase to 350,000 (23,333 hectares) mu, with an output of 100,000 tons. A 120,000-mu standardized daodi medicinal herbs base will be established and two types of advantageous medicinal herbs will be cultivated. The city will also build a quality traceability system for medicinal herbs products, as well as improve the industrial chain and sales channels, helping 2,000 low-income residents earn more money.
In addition, the plan makes specific arrangements in nine aspects, such as the construction of breeding bases, science and technology investment, as well as the production quality management system.
