The great discounts provided by publishing houses attracted lots of readers to the last day of the 3rd Confucian Academy Book Fair (CABF) on Sept 1, which was held in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, leading to books being sold out by noon.

During the book fair, an exhibition was held to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. The classics published in recent years were displayed with the joint efforts of several publishing houses, attracting a number of readers.

More than 140 books were displayed at CABF to showcase Guizhou's achievements in alleviating poverty.

About 20 exhibition areas were set up with joint efforts of 100 publishing houses during the book fair, which was the first time this has happened at CABF. In addition, several activities, including interviews, seminars, forums, and donations, were organized to spread Chinese culture.

"The book fair is a platform for Guizhou to establish the esteem of Chinese classics, and the great cultural event has improved Guizhou's international influence," said Xu Ji, a staff member of the publishing house of the Palace Museum.
