During the Beijing International Horticultural Expo, Southwest China's Guizhou province has been holding a series of activities, also known as "Guizhou Day," from Aug 4 to 6 to showcase the province's culture, tourism, natural, and business environment.
The activities include the exhibition of Guizhou's efforts in green development, as well as its abundant natural resources and featured products. Local handicraft making demonstrations and ethnic culture performances have attracted the attention of the expo's visitors.
In recent years, Guizhou has adhered to a green development approach and maintained its economic growth while protecting its ecological environment.

Guizhou has over 1,000 species of wild animals, 30 species of protected animals and plants under first-class State protection, as well as over 4,000 species of medicinal plants, occupying 80 percent of all the medicinal plants in China, making Guizhou one of the main producing areas of Chinese traditional medicinal crops.
Guizhou has made its lucid waters and lush mountains invaluable assets, which means the province is developing environmentally friendly, recycling, low carbon, clean, and energy saving industries.
The green economy is expected to promote the province's poverty alleviation and rural revitalization efforts in poverty stricken areas. Guizhou expects to share its successful experience to share with other areas, as well as explore new technologies in green development.
