Guiyang has a good eco-environment. It has been approved exclusively within the country to build a national ecological civilization demonstration zone. Guiyang is at a latitude of 26 degrees north, the most livable latitude for humans, and an elevation of about 1,100 meters, the best altitude for cardiac rehabilitation. The annual average temperature in Guiyang is 15 °C, and the average temperature there in the summer is 22.3 °C, which is the best temperature for proper functioning and regulating of the human body. Guiyang is accessible. All the counties in Guiyang are connected by expressways. The expressway system is centered around and radiates out from Guiyang city. Tarmacked roads link all towns. And all villages also have township roads that connect them to the system. The urban rail transit is also opened to traffic. Guiyang is quickening its pace to form a transportation network that consists of five circular lines and eighteen radiating lines. The high-speed railway lines connect Guiyang to first-tier Chinese cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, as well as Hongkong. Guiyang thus is also known as the "natural medicine valley".There are 193 lakes, as well as 98 rivers longer than 10 kilometers in Guiyang. Average annual rainfall for Guiyang is 1414.6 millimeters and water production is 655,000 m3/km2.

Guiyang has beautiful scenery. There are scenes endowed with natural beauty everywhere. In total, more than 6,500 scenic spots can be found here, including 1 AAAAA tourist attraction, 18 AAAA tourist attractions, and 14 five-star hotels, more than 30 four-star hotels, and 75 discovered hot springs. Guiyang is open and inclusive. Guiyang is the core area of Guizhou's pilot area for inland opening-up economics. With Zhongguancun Guiyang Science and Technology Park as the dominant steerer, and driven by four national-level opening-up platforms, which are the high-tech zone, the economic development zone, the comprehensive bonded area, and the airport economy zone, Guiyang has developed a new layout of opening-up and has become the platform for the "Guiyang International Forum on Ecological Civilization", the "China International Big Data Industry Exposition" and other state-level international activities. The city has introduced in total 113 domestic as well as international Fortune Global 500 enterprises. Today it has 82 overseas investment enterprises, 3,270 foreign trade enterprises, and 876 foreign-invested companies.

Guiyang is active and innovative. Guiyang is a state-level big data industry development zone and a big data industry technology innovation pilot zone. "China Big Data Valley" has become another loud and clear name for the city. There are 55 key laboratories at or above the provincial level, 99 engineering technology research centers, 115 enterprise technology centers, 31 academician workstations, 19 technology business incubators, and 41 public creation spaces in Guiyang, with a total of more than 879,000 talented persons. There are 1,632 big-data enterprises in the city, with main business income of RMB 100 billion. The index of big data and real economic integration is 45.3, and the contribution rate of scientific and technological development to economic growth is as high as 61%.
