Guiyang summit highlights new directions in big data industry development

The 2026 China (Guiyang) Digital Valley Conference – Global Big Data Industry Ecosystem Summit was held in Guiyang on Oct 13, bringing together nearly 400 representatives from computing infrastructure providers, large language model developers, data exchanges and research institutions.

Hosted by the Guiyang Big Data Industry Research Association, the summit focused on emerging opportunities in the digital economy amid China's "East Data, West Computing" initiative and ongoing reforms to promote the market-based allocation of data resources.

Discussions covered the token economy, the transformation of intelligent computing centers, and the development of trusted data spaces, with keynote speakers drawing on industry data to examine growth in domestic AI token usage and exploring ways to establish high-quality data feedback loops, improve compatibility with domestically developed computing infrastructure, and increase commercial utilization rates.

A roundtable session addressed token ownership and settlement, industry-specific dataset development, and data security during circulation.

The Guiyang Big Data Industry Research Association also completed its council transition and launched a talent development initiative focused on digital economy skills and chief data officers. AI trainers and token operations specialists were among the roles targeted for training.

Participants reached cooperation agreements covering token trading pilot programs, specialized data development, coordination on computing power and electricity, and industry-education collaboration. The summit also issued an initiative outlining Guiyang's approach to developing the token economy.

Organizers said they would continue bringing together government, industry, academia, and research institutions to advance the agreements reached at the summit.

By using the Global Big Data Exchange and related trusted data spaces, Guiyang aims to build an integrated ecosystem that connects data, AI models, and tokens, creating new opportunities for the digital economy while supporting China's national computing infrastructure strategy.
