According to the 2026 Summer Heat-Escape Travel Trends Report released by Tongcheng Travel, Guiyang has ranked first among the top 10 long-distance summer heat-escape destinations.
Key transport hubs, including Guiyangbei Railway Station, have seen a steady stream of passengers. Cross-provincial summer getaways, family-friendly vacations and mountain‑based leisure trips dominate the market.
Guiyang's cool-climate advantage has steadily translated into economic gains. The summer travel season draws large numbers of out-of-town visitors, whose spending serves as a core driver of the city's consumption growth.
Major commercial districts across Guiyang have rolled out themed promotion campaigns. Supported by provincial- and municipal-level consumption voucher policies, these initiatives further fuel cultural, tourism and commercial consumption during holidays.
To meet diverse sojourn demands, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area have launched more than 10 differentiated premium travel routes in eight categories, covering urban sightseeing, rural getaways, wellness tourism, cultural experiences, sports activities and digital-nomad scenarios.
With multi-level offerings for all age groups, Guiyang has evolved from a climate-driven summer escape into a comprehensive holiday destination integrating sightseeing, study tours, wellness, sports, and folk customs.
This year, Guiyang has upgraded its nighttime consumption offerings to accelerate growth in its nighttime economy.
Currently, a nighttime commercial framework has taken shape, featuring five core business circles, 10 regional business circles and 25 high-quality characteristic blocks.

In the first half of this year, 76 roadside concerts were held across 10 districts, county-level cities and counties. Over 80 such performances are scheduled for this summer season. Frequent regular performances inject cultural competitiveness into Guiyang's summer-driven economy and nighttime economy.
During this summer resort season, Guiyang has fostered a consumption system built on "five exquisites" – premium coffee, craft beer, exquisite dining, brilliant cultural creative products, and boutique homestays, creating diverse, youth‑oriented, high‑quality consumption scenarios.
Going forward, Guiyang will continue to build on the "Cool Guiyang" city IP by enriching consumption scenarios, improving resort support facilities, and fostering new business forms. The city will focus on strengthening its summer resort economy, nighttime economy, and trend economy, fully unleashing consumption vitality across the city, and accelerating its progress toward becoming a nationally premier summer resort and accommodation destination.
