Guiyang's roadside concerts draw audiences with 76 performances in H1

Guiyang hosted 76 roadside concerts in the first half of this year, covering all 10 districts, counties, and county-level cities under its jurisdiction. The events have formed a coordinated model featuring the main venue at Zhucheng Square alongside distinctive sub-venues in each district, further strengthening the city's cultural brand of "Cool Guiyang · City of Music".

For key sessions, the city carefully planned performances around major holidays and seasonal highlights such as Spring Festival, cherry blossom season, May Day, Youth Day, and International Children's Day. Themed concerts were staged to meet the cultural and recreational needs of the public.

In terms of cultural exchange and collaboration, Guiyang has actively pursued two-way interaction between bringing in and going out. The city has invited performance groups from other provinces and international troupes to perform in Guiyang, while also organizing street concert troupes to travel to multiple cities outside the province for flash mobs and cultural tourism promotions.

A pre-launch series called "Music between Cities" has been launched, while cooperation agreements have been reached with Beijing and Hong Kong for special joint performances.

On cultural and tourism innovative integration, Guiyang continues to deepen the "Music + Everything" model, rolling out cross-sector formats including "Cherry Blossoms + Music", "Tourism + Music", "Red Culture + Music", and "Campus + Music". These initiatives have benefited grassroots communities and stimulated local consumption.

A standout innovation is the "520 Music Bus", which debuts a mobile performance model by moving roadside concerts onto double-decker buses that travel through city landmarks such as Jiaxiu Pavilion and Guanshanhu Park, creating a dynamic musical experience where the scenery constantly changes.

In recent years, Guiyang has made roadside concerts a key tool for showcasing the city's cultural charm and driving cultural tourism consumption. The city has actively pursued a strategy of converting visitor traffic into longer stays, combining the "music stage" with the "city living room". High-footfall locations including Zhucheng Square, Wenchang Pavilion, Qingyun Market, Shizi Street in Huaxi district, and Under Light in Guanshanhu district, have been transformed into hybrid "culture + consumption" destinations.

Since the start of summer, Guiyang's cool climate has attracted vacationers from across China and the world seeking relief from the heat. The roadside concerts scattered throughout the city allow visitors to experience the city's vibrant spirit up close, extending their length of stay and transforming the energy of live performances into tangible spending on dining, accommodation, transportation, and sightseeing.

Guiyang plans to host more than 80 roadside concerts throughout the summer retreat season. Through regular, high-frequency performances, the city aims to inject distinctive cultural competitiveness into its summer resort economy and nighttime economy.
