Guiyang's countryside is being reimagined, with creative new attractions inviting visitors to experience rural life in fresh ways.

Zhenshan village

Zhenshan village is a nationally recognized traditional village and one of the best-preserved examples of Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) Tunpu culture. The entire village is built from locally sourced stone – including walls, tiles, roads, and courtyards, forming a veritable "stone kingdom".

Today, the village is home to over 20 art and creative studios. Several small courtyards now offer hands-on experiences of Bouyei tie-dyeing and batik (wax-resist dyeing).

Pianpo village

With crisscrossing fields, winding streams, and ancient trees scattered throughout, Pianpo village features Bouyei-style homes built along the mountain slopes. It has been honored as a "China Beautiful Leisure Village".

The village now boasts 21 homestays with 269 rooms and 532 beds. The RV campsite can accommodate up to 80 RVs at once.

Chetian village

Chetian village is a top-tier rural tourism village in Guizhou province.

The village's highly popular Shanshui Chetian homestay, repurposed from an original local dwelling, features white walls, dark gray tiles, and warm wooden interiors.

Matou village

Once the seat of Bouyei tribal chiefs, Matou village has been a center of Shuidong culture for over a thousand years.

The village is filled with towering ancient trees, winding stone-paved paths, and century-old courtyard homes. Every year on the sixth day of the sixth month of the Chinese calendar, a village-wide celebration is held, with locals singing mountain songs, performing Dixi opera, and honoring ancestors through grand ceremonies.

Shangshui village

Shangshui village has recently gained popularity for its eco-camping base and lotus pond sightseeing.

The village also serves as a summer retreat demonstration site in Baiyun district, with a number of high-quality homestays. By combining natural scenery, local culture, and tourism, it has become a prime micro-vacation destination on the city's outskirts.

You'er village

You'er village sits beside Hongfeng Lake, with shimmering waters and scenic mountain views. Lakeside camping bases, specialty farmhouse restaurants, cozy coffee shops, and Instagram-worthy photo installations are all readily available.

The "Colorful Guizhou · You'er Art Community" has introduced art exhibitions, cultural and creative production markets, and rural music festivals, making it a pioneering model of rural artistic life in Guizhou.
