As summer breezes gently sweep across the land and seas of clouds roll over the mountain peaks, the Yunding Flower Sea Scenic Area in Gaopo township, Huaxi district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, bursts with brilliant blossoms. The spectacular high-altitude floral landscape has drawn large numbers of local residents as well as tourists from across the province and beyond, all flocking to the mountains for this romantic summer flower rendezvous.

High up on the plateau, expansive fields of vervain spread freely in every direction, forming an endless ocean of purple that rises and falls with the mountain terrain.
Along both sides of the walking trails, hydrangeas in blue-and-white and pink-purple hues stand in plump, full clusters; slender and airy gaura flowers flutter in the wind like flocks of birds dancing in the sky; and Chinese roses of various colors bloom in succession, presenting a brilliant tapestry of deep and light shades.
The scenic area has been expanding its tourism offerings by harnessing its unique alpine ecology, and abundant flowers. It has developed diverse recreational projects including mountain camping, paragliding, and a family-friendly amusement park to complement its flower sightseeing.

Visitors can settle into the camping sites, quietly watch the clouds unfold and the sun set over the mountains, and immerse themselves in a slow-paced highland lifestyle. Alternatively, they can take a paraglider and soar into the sky for a bird's-eye view of the magnificent flower sea and the rolling mountain ranges. Families with children can also enjoy the amusement facilities, unlocking a variety of travel fun for all ages.
The combination of natural scenery and leisure activities is driving a rise in cultural tourism consumption. Today, Yunding Flower Sea has not only become a popular summer resort and flower-viewing destination on the outskirts of Guiyang, but it is also continuously revitalizing the rural cultural tourism market, effectively transforming the highland's picturesque views into tangible economic benefits for rural tourism.
