Blooming magnolia boosts travel photography and dining in Guiyang

Over 70 magnolia trees stretching for nearly 800 meters are blooming along both sides of Zhaohui Road in Guiyang's Dashandong sub-district, creating a fresh and elegant "spring flower path".

The road's pedestrian overpass has become the best viewing spot, with many photographers guiding their customers below. Armed with cameras and tablets slung over their shoulders, they wear earphones to communicate with visitors via phone. The moment the shutter clicks, the photos are efficiently and conveniently transmitted to their tablets.

The typical price for a photo session on Zhaohui Road is 20 yuan per photo, with visitors able to discuss their preferred style with the photographer in advance and choose their own photos afterward. If unsatisfied, they can opt not to keep them – a flexible approach that has proven highly popular among tourists.

There are currently over a dozen photographers on Zhaohui Road, including seasoned professionals, students taking on gigs in their spare time, and office workers.

Across social media, hashtags such as #ZhaohuiRoad and #ZhaohuiRoadMagnolias are trending: related content on Xiaohongshu has garnered over 500,000 views, and topics related to the road on Douyin have reached 3.97 million views.

The road's popularity owes much to its convenient transportation. Located just 700 meters from Exit B of Middle Baiyun Road Station on Metro Line 2, it has become a prime destination for flower viewing and food exploration.

The hustle and bustle of Zhaohui Road continues to heat up, with social media users commenting, "Every eatery on this road is a safe bet," and nearby hotpot restaurants and specialty barbecue joints becoming go-to spots for tourists after they enjoy the flowers.
