Guiyang and Gui'an celebrations to ring in New Year

To enrich the life of residents and visitors during the New Year's Day holiday, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area have jointly designed a diverse series of events, extending a warm welcome to tourists from across the province and beyond.

The celebration series will be held from Dec 31 to Jan 3, 2026, offering a vibrant blend of cultural heritage, youthful energy, and local charm for a memorable year-end experience.

Building on Guiyang's reputation as a City of Music, roadside concerts will be staged at multiple locations, including the Guiyang International Conference & Exhibition Center, Qingyun Road, and Huaxi Park. Key performances include the Z Era New Year Music Festival, the Vienna Royal Symphony Orchestra New Year Concert 2026, and the Guiyang Symphony Orchestra's "Song of the Forest" New Year Concert.

The Jiaxiu Pavilion light display will blend historical architecture with Nanming River scenery, while the Baiyun District Lantern Art Festival will feature traditional molten iron fireworks performances, bonfire gatherings, and grand fireworks, with additional light installations and parades creating a radiant festive atmosphere.

Food culture takes center stage, with Wudang district hosting culinary selections, while Gaozhai township in Kaiyang county and Weicheng town in Qingzhen will offer traditional New Year pig banquets, where visitors can participate in activities such as smoked pork curing and ciba (glutinous rice cake) making. Huaxihu Park will also open a market showcasing local specialties, including cili juice and Huaxi chili products.

Catering to both fitness enthusiasts and recreational trends, Qianlingshan Park will serve as Guizhou's main venue for the National New Year Climbing event. New Year running activities will also be held around Huaxi Lake, Guanshan Lake, and Baiyun district, and the Gaopo Yunding Ski Resort will launch its winter season with discounted packages for various groups.

Major commercial districts will offer promotions, including group-purchase vouchers, member-reward redemptions, and dining deals, while shopping centers will extend business hours and offer discounts to enhance the festive shopping experience.

Qingyan Ancient Town plans to organize blessing hikes and intangible cultural heritage flash mobs, and Gaopo Yunding Mushu Park will feature cave concerts combined with bonfire and fireworks nights. Hot spring resorts, including Guiyu Hot Spring and Poly International Hot Spring, will offer private hot spring and folk culture experiences.

Tourists arriving in Guiyang between Dec 30 and Jan 3 by high-speed rail or air can also enjoy free first-entry admission to Guiyang's State-owned A-level scenic spots for one week upon presentation of their travel tickets.
