Guiyang home to national industrial IP operation center

The National Intellectual Property Administration recently released the list of the first 65 national industrial intellectual property (IP) operation centers. The Aerospace Equipment Industrial Intellectual Property Operation Center, applied for by Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone (GETDZ), was the only selected entity in Guizhou province.

This selection is a national recognition of GETDZ's IP work and industrial foundation, marking a significant milestone in promoting high-quality industrial development.

The recognition will help the operation center enhance its credibility and influence within the industry. The center will seek to collaborate with more universities, research institutions, and enterprises, helping GETDZ's aerospace industry expand abroad and attract external resources.

Moreover, the operation center represents a breakthrough for Guizhou, achieving the province's first national-level IP operation center for key industries. It will strongly support key tasks in IP transformation and application, empowering industrial upgrading and fostering collaborative development in the aerospace equipment sector.

The operation center will focus on the entire chain of IP creation, utilization, protection, management, and service, building a multi-level service system. Its offerings include high-value patent cultivation, patent pool construction, the transformation of patent achievements into real-world applications, industry-academia-research collaboration, the linking of universities with research institutions, the revitalization of existing patent resources, the matching of enterprises with relevant technological outcomes, IP financial services, the introduction of investment and financing institutions to provide funding support, brand development and IP rights assistance, the establishment of a dual-drive mechanism of "IP + brand strategy", the cultivation of patent-intensive products and well-known trademarks, and services such as infringement risk analysis and dispute mediation.

The operation center's construction period spans from 2025 to 2027. GETDZ will establish sound mechanisms, integrate service resources, and facilitate supply-demand matchmaking. The goal is to utilize this national platform, aiming within three years to achieve over 60 IP transfers, licenses (including open licenses), equity investments, or financing projects; pledged financing exceeding 20 million yuan; more than 10 matched projects; over 200 high-value patent applications in the aerospace equipment industry; targeted services for more than 200 small and medium-sized enterprises; and cultivation of at least three patent-intensive products and development of at least two trademark brands.

GETDZ is a key cluster for aerospace equipment in Guizhou, hosting central government-owned enterprises such as Aviation Industry Corporation of China, China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, and Aero Engine Corporation of China, along with numerous supporting component manufacturers, which have formed a robust aerospace industry cluster.

As of October, GETDZ has accumulated 5,278 valid patents. The number of high-value invention patents per 10,000 people reached 33.6, surpassing the national average of 18.3. It has also won two China Patent Awards and nine Guizhou Provincial Patent Awards.
