When traveling to Guiyang today, "coffee, new tea drinks, and craft beer" have become must-try taste experiences for both domestic and international tourists. They are now hailed as Guiyang's "new trio" of cultural tourism consumption.
As of August this year, Guiyang is home to more than 3,000 coffee shops and over 1,200 craft beer bars, alongside a growing number of local tea brands.
In recent years, the local coffee industry has expanded rapidly, with one coffee shop per 2,000 people – ranking among the highest densities nationwide.
Coffee consumption in Guiyang has increased at an average annual rate of 18 percent, making it one of the fastest-growing cities in China for coffee consumption. Since the start of this year, travel influencers from the United Kingdom, France, and other countries and regions have visited the city, bringing Guiyang's coffee scene to international attention.
In the craft beer field, the local brand TripSmith now operates nine stores and two breweries, producing over 2,000 metric tons of craft beer annually. Its products are sold in more than 200 cities across China.
In the new tea drink sector, the local brand "Quchashan" offers a distinct Guizhou flavor tea. The brand has expanded to 58 stores nationwide, with 35 located in major cities such as Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Chengdu, where its drinks have gained wide popularity.
From "small beverages" to "major consumption", the "new trio" has become a fresh engine for Guiyang's cultural tourism growth. From January to August this year, the city saw a 9.6 percent increase in domestic tourists compared to the same period last year, with total tourism spending up by 9.8 percent.
