Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has established a remarkable urban green network, with 334 parks now built and a park green space service coverage rate of 87.92 percent. The city has now realized its goal of providing greenery within 300 meters of all residents and parks within 500 meters.
In recent years, to enhance the well-being of its residents, Guiyang has promoted the construction of urban parks. By adapting to local conditions, the city has created distinctive parks that fully utilize its mountainous terrain and natural water systems. These efforts have resulted in green spaces that integrate ecological, leisure, and cultural functions.
Throughout this process, Guiyang has focused on combining ecological protection with the needs of its residents. The city promotes the deep integration of parks with urban space. Through scientific planning and layout, it has enhanced park service functions and ecological quality by improving trails, recreational facilities, and vegetation landscapes, aiming to have every park feature one distinct theme and one distinct feature.
The city employs methods like questionnaires and meetings to consult the public on their needs and ideas, creating parks with a human touch where residents can feel the city's warmth through co-creation and shared benefits.
Furthermore, historical and cultural elements are integrated based on local context to build parks with cultural depth, allowing historical memory and modern life to enhance each other.
By coordinating resources and strengths from all parties, a sustainable model of government leadership, social collaboration, and public participation has been built to achieve the long-term management and vitality of urban parks.
"Currently, Guiyang is constructing five new small urban parks, and the total number is expected to increase to 339 by the end of the year," stated a relevant official from the park management office of Guiyang comprehensive administrative law enforcement bureau. The official emphasized that the construction of urban parks has not only improved the ecological environment, but also enhanced the quality of life for residents.
