Guiyang and Gui'an to become national coffee consumption destination by 2027

Guiyang has recently issued the Implementation Opinions on Promoting the Development of the Coffee Industry in Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area (Trial), outlining goals to establish the region as a nationally influential coffee consumption destination and a city renowned for coffee culture experiences by 2027.

The document specified that by 2027, the region will build the "Cool Guiyang Coffee" regional public brand, featuring more than five benchmark coffee scenes that reflect the city's character and integrate diverse cultures.

Furthermore, over 10 influential local specialty coffee brands with distinct cultural identities will be developed, and more than 10 innovative coffee business entities with strong market competitiveness will be introduced. A total of 600 new coffee-related market entities are expected to be established.

Looking ahead to 2030, the coffee industry's role in boosting Guiyang and Gui'an's city brands and stimulating lifestyle consumption is projected to increase significantly. The goal is for Guiyang and Gui'an to become recognized as leading centers for coffee culture exchange. A high-quality coffee industry development system – characterized by distinctive industrial integration, prominent brand influence, robust consumer demand, and a dynamic atmosphere of innovation – will be formed.

To achieve these objectives, the implementation recommendations outline measures in nine key areas, including the introduction and trial cultivation of coffee varieties, the clustering of coffee processing industries, trade and bonded services, brand buidling, support for competitions and exhibitions, as well as talent development and subsidy programs.
