A rice harvest festival was held on Sept 8-12 in Longbao village, Gui'an New Area, Southwest China's Guizhou province.
Longbao village, an important grain production area in Gui'an, sits on a typical plateau basin on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau.
In recent years, Longbao has pioneered its own rice farming model, addressing challenges such as who farms, what to plant, how to grow, and how to sell. This model has ensured steady grain production, increased farmers' incomes, and turned Longbao rice into a regional specialty and a flagship brand for rural development.

Since last year, the village has explored a "rice cultivation + tourism" path by utilizing the unique autumn landscape of its rice fields. The first harvest festival drew many visitors eager to experience farming culture, boosting sales of Longbao rice and other products while directly increasing villagers' incomes.
This year's five-day festival, building on past year's experience, offers even more highlights – from festive folk performances to an array of local specialties such as Longbao rice, free-range chicken, duck, and eggs for visitors to enjoy.
The harvest festival enriched farmers, enhanced the village's reputation and opened up new opportunities in homestay tourism and rural vitalization.
