Nanming district, a central urban district of Guiyang, is stepping up efforts to develop its digital economy by strengthening emerging industries, supporting businesses, and expanding digital applications in urban governance.

The district's digital economy maintained strong growth in 2025. Software business revenue reached 6.19 billion yuan ($868 million), up 25.3 percent year-on-year, while revenue from internet and related services rose 26.7 percent to 2.23 billion yuan.

Nanming is focusing on industrial internet, artificial intelligence, digital content, and data-related industries. The district now boasts 44 digital economy enterprises above the designated size, including 32 companies engaged in data labeling and AIGC-related businesses.

The district is also exploring data as a new economic factor. As a pilot area for data intellectual property in Guizhou, it is advancing data ownership, valuation, asset recognition, and trading, with local companies pioneering applications in meteorological and water-monitoring data.

Meanwhile, digital technologies are improving urban services. In Huaguoyuan, a smart governance platform integrates data on public complaints, community disputes, and police incidents, enabling faster coordination and response. The district is also integrating digital technologies into power infrastructure, with seven power distribution rooms in Huaguoyuan upgraded to improve grid reliability.
