Guiyang's Nanming district is leveraging the 2026 China International Big Data Industry Expo (Big Data Expo) to showcase its digital economy and accelerate the application of digital technologies across industries and in urban governance.

Six companies from the district participated in this year's expo, presenting solutions spanning smart energy, artificial intelligence, meteorological data, and digital governance.

Wujiang Hydropower Development Co, for example, showcased its large language model for river-basin management. Built on more than 50 terabytes of multi-source data, the model improves medium-term runoff prediction accuracy by more than 5 percentage points compared with traditional mechanism-based models, supporting coordinated management of weather, water flows, and renewable energy generation.

Digital technologies are also being put to work in Huaguoyuan, one of China's largest residential communities. Its smart governance platform integrates more than 120 million data records from over 10 government departments and supports 16 practical governance models, enabling more efficient monitoring, analysis, and response to community issues.

Beyond the expo, Nanming is continuing to expand digital applications in urban management and public services.

In 2025, the district upgraded communications infrastructure in 19 aging residential communities and handled more than 900 public service hotline cases. Its smart parking system has also reduced the time drivers spend looking for parking spaces by 90 percent.
