While many parts of China experience scorching summer temperatures, Guiyang's Nanming district is attracting visitors with a cool average summer temperature of around 23 C, transforming the city's historic center into a popular destination for long-stay vacations.

Nanming offers visitors a blend of cool weather, cultural heritage, and urban convenience. Rather than making brief sightseeing stops, an increasing number of travelers are choosing to stay for weeks at a time.

The summer tourism season has driven strong demand for accommodations. More than 760 hotels and nearly 30,000 guest rooms across the district are operating at high occupancy, while around 200 serviced apartments and many riverside guesthouses have reported bookings extending into late August.

Nanming is expanding its range of lodging options, from city-center hotels and boutique riverside homestays overlooking Jiaxiu Pavilion to renovated rural houses in Yongle township and forest retreats surrounded by lush greenery.

The district has also upgraded idle village homes into boutique accommodations, creating new income opportunities for local residents while enriching the visitor experience.

Beyond comfortable stays, Nanming has developed immersive tourism experiences combining history, food, and local culture.

Visitors can explore Jiaxiu Pavilion, stroll through the historic old town, browse cultural and creative stores, enjoy specialty coffee, and sample local delicacies at the bustling Qingyun Market.

New themed walking routes connect cultural landmarks, traditional neighborhoods, and vibrant nightlife, encouraging visitors to experience the city at a slower pace.

The district is also promoting wellness tourism by integrating its natural resources with healthcare services.

At the Guiyang Botanical Garden of Medicinal Plants, a newly opened wellness center combines forest therapy, traditional Chinese medicine experiences, and health management programs for visitors of all ages. Rural tourism in Yongle township complements these offerings with fruit-picking, countryside stays, and seasonal cultural events.
