On July 12, a visit to the Peach Industrial Park in Yongle township, Nanming district, revealed a vibrant scene as some premium new peach varieties began to bear fruit, filling the air with their delightful fragrance.

In a bid to propel the high-quality development of the peach industry in Yongle, Nanming district has begun developing the industrial park, with a strategic focus on turning it into a demonstration park for peach cultivation, a seedling export center, a brand export hub, and a technology dissemination center.

This initiative, spanning 300 mu (20 hectares), was spearheaded in 2023.

"When construction on the industrial park first began, the soil fertility was insufficient due to its history as an old peach orchard, failing to provide optimal planting conditions. We intervened with timely guidance, disinfecting it, preparing the soil, and applying organic fertilizer to thoroughly enhance the soil quality," shared an official from Nanming's agriculture and rural affairs bureau.

In the selection of varieties, collaboration was established with the Zhengzhou Fruit Tree Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Leveraging cutting-edge domestic technologies in combating soil exhaustion, nine peach varieties with excellent comprehensive traits suited to the local conditions were meticulously chosen as the primary cultivation targets.

Furthermore, the industrial park adopted a planting layout with wide-row and close-planting specifications of 2 m by 5 m and 1.5 m by 4 m, respectively, employing a Y-shaped tree training system.

It is now equipped with three track-type remote-controlled tractors and one small orchard excavator, enabling efficient mechanized operations and management in the hilly peach orchards.

In the application of advanced agricultural facilities and technologies, a 40-mu automatic retractable rain shelter was erected within the industrial park to shield against meteorological disasters like hail and heavy rainfall, tailored to the growth requirements of peach trees and the practical needs of farmers.

Additionally, ecological fences and a meteorological station were installed, facilitating real-time scientific monitoring and meticulous environmental management and positioning the park as a leader in the management of provincial and municipal peach orchards.

"Peach cultivation in the industrial park is thriving, with new varieties, such as Zhonghua Blood Peach, Jinxia Wanyou, and Zhongyou Jinming, beginning to bear fruit. These fruits exhibit excellent quality and taste, with Jinxia Wanyou boasting a sugar content of 17.1.
