In recent years, Nanming district in Southwest China's Guizhou province has seen a sustained and positive development in its foreign trade sector.
According to customs statistics, in 2023, Nanming's total import and export volume reached 7.49 billion yuan ($1.03 billion), ranking second among all districts and counties in the province.
Behind the achievements, Nanming has been steadfast in exploring markets and continuously expanding its circle of foreign trade partners.
Nanming has integrated into the Belt and Road Initiative, the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor in West China, and is a steadfast promoter of the construction of inland open economic pilot zones. It also emphasizes the need for more cooperation with ASEAN countries in fields such as trade, digital economy, tourism, technology, healthcare, and logistics.
Simultaneously, efforts are being made to drive the construction of a high-quality demonstration area in Nanming. Events such as the Guizhou-Macao Cooperation and Exchange Conference facilitate high-level cooperation between the two regions in areas like food, education, healthcare, and finance.
Moreover, by leveraging platforms like the Guiyang Import and Export Online Fair, China International Import Expo, and the Canton Fair, Nanming's international trade channels are kept open and are guiding and promoting innovative collaborations between local enterprises and foreign companies across multiple sectors.
On another front, Nanming district is pressing forward in service innovation, constantly enhancing its competitiveness in the development of opening-up.
While attracting investments, the district consistently strengthens the nurturing of foreign trade enterprises, providing increased policy support and financial assistance. It is also assisting eligible enterprises in applying for higher-level funding and supporting the growth of foreign trade companies in order to enhance the quality of its foreign trade.
In 2023, over 20 foreign trade service companies in the district received support totaling more than 30 million yuan through various funds.
Since last year, a total of 15 foreign-funded enterprises have been newly established, along with 10 new import and export companies.
In 2023, with robust investment attraction efforts and precise services, the "CW New Retail" Guizhou flagship store project successfully landed in Huaguoyuan of Nanming.
The introduction of "CW New Retail" is one of Nanming's initiatives to accelerate the development of cross-border e-commerce and other new foreign trade formats, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of Nanming's open economy.
