Former Site of Dade School

Dade School broke free from the constraints of feudal ethics and, by following new ideologies and trends, pioneered numerous educational firsts in Guizhou's modern history.

It was the first to establish an all-girls school and kindergarten in Guizhou, and employed the first female teacher. The school also initiated the teaching of vernacular Chinese, established the first educational magazine in Guizhou, and sent its first graduates to study abroad.

The teachers and students of Dade School actively participated in various revolutionary movements in Guizhou, becoming pioneers in Guizhou's national movement and democratic revolution. Many teachers and alumni, such as Wang Ruofei and Huang Qisheng, sacrificed their lives for this cause.

In February 1982, it was designated as a key cultural relic protection unit in Guizhou province. After restoration in 1997, it was opened to the public. In 2009, it was included in Guizhou's third batch of museums that are open to the public for free.
