Jiaxiu Pavilion Block listed as provincial-level historical and cultural block

The Jiaxiu Pavilion Block in Nanming district of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was recently designated as a provincial-level historical and cultural block by the Guizhou Provincial Government.

The announcement emphasizes the need to thoroughly explore the value of historical and cultural resources, seek new paths for improving the diverse living environment in historical and cultural areas, cultivate new business formats, and promote the integrated development of historical and cultural preservation and urban and rural construction across the province.

Governments where historical and cultural areas are located are urged to properly handle the relationship between urban construction and the protection of historical and cultural resources. They are to establish and improve long-term protection mechanisms, strengthen the overall protection of historical and cultural areas and historical buildings, and ensure dynamic heritage preservation.

It is emphasized that the formulation, approval, and implementation of protection plans for historical and cultural areas should be carried out in accordance with the law, effectively safeguarding the overall style, street patterns, spatial scale, landscape environment, and cultural atmosphere of historical and cultural areas.

The Guizhou Housing and Urban-Rural Development Department, the Guizhou Culture and Tourism Department, and other relevant provincial departments are tasked with strengthening guidance, supervision, and inspection of the protection of historical and cultural areas.

They are to enhance research, evaluation, and dynamic management, providing comprehensive guidance for localities to enhance the protection of historical and cultural areas and to effectively promote the systematic protection and utilization of historical and cultural heritage, thereby contributing to the accelerated development of a culturally-rich Guizhou province.
