Nanming district has been fighting a war on three fronts against pollution, namely for blue skies, clear waters, and pristine land, ensuring continual and steady improvements in the quality of the regional ecological environment.

Air quality

This year, Nanming has focused on key periods for pollution control, promptly refining and improving emergency response plans. It has implemented orderly measures to address potential air pollution incidents. A total of nine responses to light and moderate pollution incidents have been initiated this year, successfully mitigating the risks of air pollution.

Intensified efforts have also been made to address pollution in key areas, primarily by implementing source control measures and enhancing the recovery of oil vapor in oil storage facilities and gas stations.

As a result of these endeavors, the overall air quality in the district has reached an excellent rate of 99.4 percent.

Water quality

Significant improvements have also been made to improve the infrastructure in Nanming.

Several sewage treatment plants, including in Hebin, Guimian, Taici, Guigang, and Wulichong, have been completed and are now fully operational.

Meanwhile, the construction of the Hongyan water regeneration plant is progressing rapidly, now nearing 95 percent completion.

The focus on addressing has led to the development of 10.44 kilometers of new drainage pipelines and the renovation of 10.63 km of sewage networks.

Furthermore, efforts have been made to clean 2.5 million cubic meters of drainage ditches, repair 986 damaged, collapsed, or corroded pipelines, rectify 188 points of stormwater inflow, address 28 sources of direct sewage discharge, and ensure a domestic wastewater treatment rate of over 98 percent.

Additionally, regular inspections and monitoring have been carried out, with investigations conducted on 11 suspected river discharge outlets and 199 known river discharge outlets within the jurisdiction of Nanming.

Currently, the water quality of six rivers in Nanming remains stable and meets the required standards. Moreover, the surface water quality and centralized drinking water sources maintain a 100 percent compliance rate.

Land and soil

Continued efforts have been made to prevent and control soil pollution by strictly managing land use for key construction projects.

The parties responsible for land plots that have changed their usage to residential, public management, or public service purposes are required to conduct soil pollution surveys in accordance with the relevant regulations. The safe utilization rate of construction land in the district remains at 100 percent.

Efforts to combat solid waste pollution have also been intensified.

Measures such as strengthening the barcode management of medical waste, implementing QR code management for used lead-acid batteries and waste engine oil, and promoting the standardized collection and harmless disposal of hazardous waste within the district have been implemented.
