As new industries, new business models, and new environments emerge, flexible employment has become an active part of the economy, and the construction of the gig market has become an important focus for maintaining and securing employment.
In November 2022, due to the dual demands presented by the market and national policies, the Xingguan Road Gig Market in Nanming district was established.
The market is dedicated to building a service platform and a "supply-demand bridge" for flexibly employed individuals and enterprises.
It is equipped with a waiting area for gig workers, a registration area for job seekers and employers, a skills-training area, a labor rights protection area, a policy consultation area, and a rest area.
Additionally, there are four full-time staff members responsible for daily job collection, releasing information, job seeker registration and guidance, job recommendations, and other related work.
The market is helping job seekers and enterprises through a combination of online and offline methods.
Online, the market relies on the "Shared Employment · Flexible Employment" mini program to provide gig matching services for families, enterprises, and job seekers. The platform offers features like one-click demand publishing, intelligent screening of supply and demand, and online contact for orders, allowing gig workers and employers to match by themselves.
Offline, in addition to holding job fairs on Tuesdays and Fridays, staff collect information about the demand for gig work by visiting enterprises and connecting with labor agencies. Currently, the market has expanded to cover more than 40 industries, including construction and decoration, household services, catering stores, sports and entertainment, retail supermarkets, and logistics and express delivery.
"Currently, the group of people who engage in fragmented work tend to be older and have lower educational levels. We collaborated with enterprises to explore positions such as porters and transport workers, hoping to promote the effective employment of these workers," said Yang Dan, who is responsible for overseeing the market.
For low-income families, as well as elderly people and people with disabilities who struggle to find work, the market prioritizes "one-on-one" meetings with suitable employers, guiding enterprises to give preference to these groups when hiring.
To date, the market has hosted over 90 job fairs. Over 1,133 enterprises have registered online, 35 more joining the market offline.
A total of 4,654 positions have been offered, leading around 2,340 jobseekers to achieve their employment goals.
Furthermore, 1,445 people have joined "one-on-one" matchmaking sessions to help them land jobs.
