Yongle township in Nanming district is focusing on the development of its peach industry, intending to further expand its scale of cultivation, optimize peach quality, extend industrial chains, and create brand recognition for its peaches.
Yongle has signed peach variety authorization agreements with the Zhengzhou Fruit Research Institute of CAAS, and the Beijing Fruit Science Research Institute, while also cooperating with the Guiyang Testing Station of the National Peach Industry Park System.
Due to such efforts, the township has completed a demonstration zone for improved varieties, with nine new kinds of peach seedlings having been planted, spanning 197 mu (13.13 hectares).
To date, Yongle has bred over 20 peach varieties such as the Yanhong peach, shoutao (longevity peach), and yellow peach.
Among those, Yanhong peaches were named Guizhou Province's High-Quality Agricultural Product and a National Geographic Indication Agricultural Product due to their large size, small core, vibrant color, thick and juicy flesh, and irresistible sweetness.
The peach planting area of Yongle reaches 10,800 mu, producing over 12,000 metric tons annually. The peaches have proved a huge hit, being sold in regions such as Yunnan, Chongqing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen.
In order to further amplify the impact of the Yongle peach brand and strengthen its publicity, the township is developing a complex that integrates beautiful rural countryside scenery with flower viewing, fruit picking, tourism, and wellness activities.
More efforts are also being made to fully explore the historical and cultural heritage of Duanxun and Yangming cultures.
Eventually, Yongle will be developed into a "trial field" for modern urban agriculture in the province, and a "showroom" for rural vitalization.
