Nanming improves quality of life for residents

Residents of Nanming district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, are enjoying much-improved living conditions, access to better facilities and more convenient transportation services due to the district's efforts to improve people's livelihoods.

In 2021, Nanming invested more than 31 million yuan in the standardization and upgrading of eight farmers' markets, including Xinlukou, Nanchanglu and Hongyan, built two smart parking lots and added 1,056 parking spaces.

During the same period, the city renovated 18 shantytowns, with the reconstruction area reaching about 1.73 million square meters and benefiting 11,972 households.

Elsewhere, seven old residential community reconstruction projects were implemented, with a reconstruction area of about 1.66 million square meters and involving 24,784 residents. Another 50 back streets and alleys were also renovated.

In addition, the natural environment in Nanming has continued to improve.

The quality of all drinking water sources in the district now meets national standards; and its forest coverage rate stands at 41.68 percent.

In 2021, the air quality rated "good" or "excellent" in Nanming on 98.6 percent of days, and the total number of parks in the district increased to 154.

Additionally, Nanming has made strong efforts to improve medical and health care and elderly care services.

At present, Nanming has a total of 639 medical institutions with 12,716 beds, as well as 28 elderly care facilities and 2,085 elderly nursing beds.
