The Nanming district of Guiyang – capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – recently released a government work report that positively reviewed the robust economic and social achievements made in the district over the past five years.

Among the highlights, from 2017 to 2021, Nanming helped two counties and three towns in Guizhou province shake off their poverty, with the number of people lifted out of hardship reaching 33,644.

What's more, Nanming's GDP ranked first in the areas administered by Guiyang as well as second in Guizhou province in both 2019 and 2020.

In 2021, Nanming became the preeminent district of Guiyang, with its GDP topping 100 billion yuan ($15 billion).

Due to its efforts in developing its economy and environment, Nanming was granted a raft of honorary titles – joining the ranks of "China's Top 100 Districts of Comprehensive Strength", "China's Top 100 Districts of Investment Potential", "China's Top 100 Districts of Scientific Development", "China's Best Famous Districts to Live, Work and Travel," and "China's Best Districts in Investment Value and Tourism".

Meanwhile, the industrial system of Nanming was reportedly further optimized. The proportion of Nanming's primary, secondary and tertiary industries was adjusted to 0.1:36.5:63.4 and total retail sales of consumer goods in the district maintained the top place in the province last year.

In terms of people's livelihoods, Nanming is said to have achieved full and stable employment, high-quality and balanced education, inclusive and convenient medical care and comprehensive coordination of culture and sports.
