Nanming development thrives under Party leadership

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. Nanming district in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has made great achievements under the leadership of the Party.

Taking the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20) as an example, the regional GDP of Nanming increased from 65.40 billion yuan in 2016 to 89.23 billion yuan in 2020, with an average annual growth rate of 9.9 percent.

In 2019 and 2020, Nanming's GDP ranked first among all the districts and county-level cities in Guiyang.

In 2020, the number of high-tech enterprises in Nanming accounted for 11 percent of the total in Guizhou, and its comprehensive scientific and technological progress index reached 96.2.

The disposable income of urban residents had increased from 30,207 yuan in 2016 to 40,906 yuan in 2020.

Meanwhile, from 2016 to 2020, Nanming made every effort to promote entrepreneurship and employment, and continued to take pragmatic measures to create a good employment environment, improve the employability of workers, and protect the rights and interests of workers.

The total number of new urban jobs has reached 250,000, and the registered urban unemployment rate has remained under 4 percent.

Nanming also continued to increase investment in education. It built, renovated and expanded 105 schools to provide better education services for students.

The public preschool education rate has increased by 19 percentage points, the nine-year compulsory education consolidation rate has reached 99.85 percent, and the comprehensive evaluation of teaching quality has ranked first in Guiyang for the past four years.

Additionally, Nanming has implemented cultural benefit projects in depth, and built the first library with a socialized operation model in Guizhou.

A total of 187 grassroots comprehensive cultural service centers have been established, and the library and cultural center branches have achieved full coverage of three townships and 17 sub-districts.

The construction of the "City of Thousand Parks" was further promoted as well. The total number of parks in the district has increased to 154, the forest coverage rate has reached 41.75 percent, and the air quality was rated as "good" or "excellent" on 96.48 percent of days annually.
