Starting in 2024, Qingzhen city has embarked on a comprehensive optimization reform of its development zones, aiming to position them as key players in the aluminum industry.
By 2025, the Qingzhen Economic Development Zone had emerged as a hub for Guizhou province's aluminum industry, achieving an industrial output value of 27.08 billion yuan ($3.91 billion) and accounting for over 80 percent of the province's total. This makes it the development zone with the highest level of aluminum industry agglomeration in the province.
Qingzhen's success is attributed to its strategic approach to industrial planning. The city has implemented a dynamic industrial chain blueprint, transforming the development zone into the province's most complete aluminum industry ecosystem.
Qingzhen has also focused on optimizing industrial project construction. Key projects, such as a 30,000-metric-ton ultra-thin power battery aluminum foil plant and a 500,000-ton bauxite desulfurization facility, have been completed and put into operation. These developments position the zone as the most advanced area for aluminum industry upgrading in the province.
Building on its abundant bauxite resources and the strengths of its aluminum industry cluster, the city has significantly upgraded its investment promotion strategy. It is actively introducing innovative development models – such as "mineral + industry" and "scenario + industry" – to attract higher-quality projects, extend the industrial value chain, and foster more integrated, sustainable growth.
Additionally, Qingzhen is streamlining services for businesses. The city has integrated 38 approval processes from 13 departments into a "one-stop service" for the aluminum industry chain. Coordinated efforts among government agencies, development zones, and enterprises have tackled key challenges such as land use and power infrastructure, creating a more supportive environment for business growth.
