Qingzhen, a city in Guiyang, has transformed its tourism industry by employing a "government guidance + market entities + village collective participation" model, transforming the city's tourism landscape from "single-point sightseeing" to "city-wide experience".

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Qingzhen welcomed approximately 50.38 million visitors, generating 52.12 billion yuan ($7.37 billion) in tourism revenue. By October 2025, tourism-related businesses grew to 4,497, with two provincial key rural tourism towns and 17 provincial and municipal key villages. The city hosts 208 homestays and ranks among the "Top 100 Counties in National Tourism Comprehensive Strength" for seven consecutive years.

Looking ahead to the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30), Qingzhen aims to be an "all-season travel destination" with several key initiatives:

The city will find innovative ways to attract investment for the industry chain, connect with leading cultural and tourism enterprises, and nurture local leading enterprises to form a group of competitive cultural and tourism enterprises by 2030.

Qingzhen will implement a scenic area renewal initiative by promoting the transformation of A-level tourist attractions towards leisure and vacation experiences, and revitalizing idle assets around Hongfeng Lake to build an "all-season, all-time" tourism product system.

A "Refreshing Guiyang · Lake City Qingzhen" brand with multiple sub-brands will be developed, and the "Qingzhen Good Products" tourism merchandise will be promoted by integrating cultural heritage and agricultural products.

Qingzhen will create an "intangible cultural heritage + tourism + rural vitalization" industry chain, while enhancing the protection and utilization of ancient roads and sites. Cultural facilities and public services will be expanded to enrich community life by establishing a modern smart library, upgrading cultural stations, and promoting public cultural and sports activities.
