On Dec 14, the opening ceremony of the first Qingzhen college student science and technology innovation and entrepreneurship competition was held in Qingzhen city, which is administered by Guiyang in Southwest China's Guizhou province.
Thirty project teams made it through the preliminary round to participate in the main competition. The projects covered fields such as aluminum and aluminum processing, new energy vehicles, advanced equipment manufacturing, medicine, software and information technology services, tourism, and eco-friendly specialty foods.
The competition was organized by the Qingzhen government and officially launched in mid-November. A total of 250 teams from 27 universities took part in the contest.
After intense competition, the judging panel recognized two first prize winners, four second prize winners, and six third prize winners. The panel also gave recognition to another 18 excellent projects.
Project teams that received excellent awards or above in this competition will be given priority support by municipal-level sci-tech programs. They will also enjoy policies such as reduced fees for incubation space, housing subsidies, and talent apartment rental subsidies.
Currently, Qingzhen has established 10 incubation spaces, which have attracted 107 entrepreneurial teams. It has also established one provincial-level makerspace and two municipal-level sci-tech enterprise incubators.
This year, the city introduced 34 high-tech enterprises, which include one national-level specialized and sophisticated little giant enterprise and 20 provincial-level specialized and sophisticated companies.
