Qingzhen city in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, is home to 249 old residential areas, among which 183, or 73.5 percent of the total, don't have any property management services.

The government recently launched an old residential area renovation campaign, leveraging social capital to participate in the renovation work and continue to provide relevant services for these areas.

Three such residential areas have been selected as pilot zones for the renovation. The final goal is to offer these areas professional property management teams to offer services related to public sanitation, public facility repair and maintenance, elderly and childcare, and public order. Ultimately, a long-term city renewal and management mechanism will be set up.

For example, renovation projects involving underground pipe networks, road hardening and greening have been carried out in the Guitie community in Binhu sub-district. The community will then hire a professional property management company to take care of its garages, shop fronts, and public rental housing. The community will also cooperate with related firms to build charging piles for new energy vehicles.
