Waste incineration power plant put into use

A household waste incineration power plant was put into use recently in Qingzhen city, Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The power plant is capable of processing 182,500 metric tons of waste annually and generating 1.2 gigawatt-hours of electricity, equivalent to 45,000 tons of coal.

The project involved a total investment of 650 million yuan ($90.55 million) and was designed to burn 1,000 tons of household waste daily.

The project uses less land resources and results in less environmental pollution than a traditional landfill treatment model.
