Guiyang's dragon boats vie for honors

The Guiyang Adult Dragon Boat Open Championship was held in Qingzhen city of Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on July 24.

More than 100 athletes from seven teams from various districts, cities and counties in Guiyang participated.

At 10 am, the competition kicked off on Red Maple Lake. To the sound of beating drums aimed at controlling the speed and rhythm of the paddles, the teams gathered their strength and coursed over the waves. The crowd cheered and encouraged the athletes as they sprinted to the finish line.

After two hours of fierce competition, the Kaiyang county team clinched the championship.
