The list of the second batch of innovative counties that are now under construction (county-level cities are also included) was issued recently by the Ministry of Science and Technology, with Qingzhen city in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, making the list.
The socio-economic development of innovative counties is mainly driven by sci-tech innovations.
Counties on the list are categorized into three types whose sci-tech products are mainly used for industries, environmental protection and public welfare. Qingzhen's sci-tech products are mainly used to support local industrial sectors.
In recent years, the city has launched a campaign to advance the innovation-driven development empowered by big data technologies, with its sci-tech innovation mechanism being more comprehensive and its digital economy recording steady growth.
Moving forward, the city will focus on electronic information manufacturing, software, and emerging digital industries, according to Qingzhen's bureau of science and technology.
