Qingzhen city in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has formulated a plan to boost its local tea industry as the spring season progresses.

The government has called for a strict and unified tea picking standard, and tea growers are encouraged to carry out their tea picking activities together in order to ensure the quality of the tea. Additionally, agricultural technicians and experts will be assigned to help tea farmers to speed up their tea picking pace.

Tourists visiting Qingzhen can now get involved throughout the tea making process, from picking tea leaves all the way to the tasting stage. Since March, the Hongfeng Shanyun tea plantation has received more than 600 sightseers.

Traditional tea processing techniques will be further improved, and efforts will be made to formulate high-quality local tea brands. So far, Qingzhen has built 33.33 hectares of pollution-free ecological tea gardens, which have generated over 100,000 yuan ($14,500) in sales. In addition to domestic demands from Beijing, Hainan and Heilongjiang, the city has also received orders from foreign countries, such as Mexico.
