Protection of wildlife is essential to preserving biodiversity and maintaining ecological balance, which is why the natural resources and planning bureau of Qingzhen city of Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has rolled out a series of measures to strengthen wildlife protection.
To increase awareness of the wildlife protection, it has been handing out wildlife protection pamphlets, holding lectures on the issue, informing villages of laws and regulations on wild animal protection, and encouraging people to stop hunting and eating wild animals.
Special inspections were carried out in a number of places, such as farm produce markets and slaughter houses, to check if there were any illegal activities involving the sale and consumption of wildlife.
Forest rangers were urged to enhance patrols, identify and stop illegal hunting, and report such instances to government officials.
