An integral system was devised in Yachihe village of Qingzhen, Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, for villagers to learn how to lead a more civilized life.
Every rural household in the village was registered into the system, enabling villagers to take control of their own affairs.
The sanitation situation of each household will be evaluated regularly, and from that evaluation they will gain a certain amount of points.
But households will lose all of their points if they lead extravagant lifestyles, such as holding luxurious parties for marriages or funerals.
Small gifts will be given to these households based on how many points they have collected throughout the year.
