Qingzhen city in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has taken proactive measures to ensure that people have access to safe and healthy drinking water.
For example, work has been done to arrange villagers' relocation. So far, a sum of 865 million yuan ($125.42 million) has been used to fund these relocations, and now 558 rural households have moved to different sites in the Red Maple Lake Water Conservation Area.
Efforts have also been made to inspect illegal cage breeding activities in the water conservation area. So far, the government has banned 176 breeding bases along the Lake.
A monitoring and pre-warning system that covers the inspection of Qingzhen's air, weather, and land has been put in place. Additionally, the city has been accelerating the construction and completion of several water purification facilities, while 10 new automatic micro water quality inspection stations have been put into use.
