Qingzhen to implement rice-rapeseed crop rotation project

Qingzhen city – administered by Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – has applied to the authorities to implement a rice-rapeseed crop rotation mechanism involving over 20,000 mu (1,333 hectares) of land.

The move was to stabilize the planting scale of grain and rapeseed, normalize the crop rotation system, and promote a green planting model.

The project will involve 3 million yuan ($470,000) or more in government funding and is expected to produce 10,400 metric tons of rice, as well as 2,400 tons of rapeseed annually, bringing the estimated combined output value to 74.88 million yuan.

The reduced use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides is being encouraged in the project.
