Qingzhen steps up efforts to ease traffic jams

In response to the traffic jams that often occur during the commuting periods, the public security bureau of Qingzhen, Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has rolled out a series of actions to improve the local transportation.

Officials of the bureau have coordinated with vehicle operation companies and established a group chat on WeChat for traffic congestion information. Using it, drivers are able to contact police officers immediately after road congestion happens, which has boosted the efficiency of the officers in their work.

The police have also been targeting bad practices – such as motorcycles parking in vehicle parking spaces and cars pulling over at the wrong place, and have intensified the punishment to drivers involved.

Road users will face fines and media exposure if they are found running a red light, riding an electric motorcycle without a helmet, or riding an unregistered motorcycle.
