Government, firms join forces to renovate road in Qingzhen

A section of road in front of Guizhou Seventh Grinding Wheel Factory in Zhanjie town, Qingzhen, Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, used to be muddy and rugged. But the section is heavily trafficked, since there are many villagers living in the area, and trucks also depend on the section to drive in and out of the plant. 

At the beginning of 2021, the local government listed the renovation of the road section as one of 10 welfare projects to be completed, and has organized five meetings to discuss plans for the road work.

The meetings were also attended by cadres from rural community committees and villager representatives. 

In order to pay for the road work, the town's government has enlisted financial assistance from governments at higher levels. Local enterprises also lent a helping hand.

"We have to drive on the road to carry our products out. The renovation of the road not only makes transportation more convenient, but also eliminates safety risks, especially for schoolchildren," said Xiong Qianming, an official of Qianming Mining Co, another firm among many located along the road section that have made generous donations of over 1.2 million yuan ($180,000) to support renovation work. 

The reconstructed road section has now reopened to traffic, increasing local people's sense of gain and security.
