The Fengyu community in Zhanjie town, Qingzhen, a county-level city in Southwest China's Guizhou province, was designed especially for city's relocated residents.

Home to a total of 1,966 relocated people from Qingzhen's eight towns, the community is dedicated to raising the sense of well-being among its inhabitants.

Huang Youhua is one of them. Handicapped by his poor eyesight, and burdened by his impoverished family, where his parents cannot sustain themselves and three young kids are still studying at school, he had to do whatever part-time jobs that he could find in the city.

Life used to be tough for him until the day he was officially employed by an aluminum processing plant nearby, which might have been impossible without the recommendation of the leaders of the Fengyu community.

Now he has a stable monthly income of 3,200 yuan ($480), plus his wife's wages earned from a public welfare post, which are sufficient to support his family.

In addition to creating more job opportunities for residents in need, the community is also set to improve their living conditions.

A free canopy with car battery chargers was built in April, and thanks to this the hailstorm that hit the city on May 9 did not take a toll on the car owners of the community.

The community has also established its administrative committee, which was organized by the community leaders and mainly consists of residents themselves.

Children from kindergarten to grade six can all be sent to the community, where young volunteers will improve their lives by assisting them in their study and fostering their other interests after class.

Elderly people can also have fun in classes taught by the community's Party members. Senior citizens are given a platform for study and idea exchanges in fields such as literature, calligraphy, painting and music.
