Qingzhen, a county-level city administered by Guiyang – capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – recently organized a recruitment drive that led to the hiring of more than 800 people from all over the country, in an initiative expected to boost its local economic performance.
In its initiative, the city dodged the convention of fixating on academic degrees, professional titles, papers and awards when assessing the capabilities of applicants. Instead, it sought to attach more importance to their contributions to society, work efficiency and creativity.
By being more open, innovative and more inclusive to those willing to serve the city, the government aims to stimulate more service channels, in order to create a fair, professional and highly-functioning talent ecosystem.
