Since ancient times, March has been considered the perfect time to appreciate flowers. Recently the pear blossom has come into full bloom in an orchard in Qingzhen's Lianhuasi village. The little petals are as white as snow, attracting plenty of tourists.
"The pear blossom is charming, but it is such a pity that the splendid view only lasts a few days," a tourist said excitedly. "I took many photos, and posted them on WeChat and Douyin," he added. WeChat and Douyin are two of China's most popular social media platforms and allow netizens to exchange pictures and short videos.
In fact, the pear blossom not only entertains sightseers, but also lightens the lives of villagers.
Wang Bingyin, manager of the orchard, believes that the blossom indicates a harvest of pears. "The pear output is hopefully going to reach 75,000 kilograms, and based on the market price of pears -- 10 yuan ($1.5) per kilogram -- and the output value this year is expected to exceed 750,000 yuan," said Wang proudly.
It is calculated that the annual output value of the orchard is 2 million yuan, bringing an income to more than 50 villagers.
The orchard is a manifestation of the Qingzhen government's consistent efforts to optimize its agricultural structure and cultivate the local characteristic industries.
